There are few in history who have been more inspiring than Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through his speeches, lectures, and teachings the world has been graced with powerful messages which still hold relevance today. On this holiday, we’d like to take some time to remember just a few extraordinary lines directly from MLK.

1) “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”

From a 1947 article, “The Purpose of Education”, for the Morehouse College student newspaper.

2) “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
