Tyler McFarland

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Media and Strategic Communication with a +Business Minor

Future Plans: Work full-time at Boise State managing the first Athletics Photography Department.

Tyler is a photographer and advocate for sharing stories. Since his freshman year, he has worked for the Athletic Department documenting each of Boise State’s 18 Division-I sports, earning a full scholarship for his efforts. During his undergraduate tenure, Tyler was invited to attend NCAA photography workshops at both the College Football National Championship and Men’s Basketball Final Four. In 2023, Tyler was awarded the Doug Pensinger Photography Fund Grant and Mentorship for his portfolio, given annually to three emerging photographers around the world.

Tyler participated in various internships at photography studios around the Treasure Valley since becoming a Bronco. During an internship at VisionKit Studio in 2023, he worked in collaboration with Surel’s Place to document the artists in residence. That summer, he studied philosophy at Oxford with the Honors College. After being a selected speaker at Boise State Listens in November 2023, he was inducted as a fellow for the Institute for Advancing American Values at Boise State.

Tyler is from Boise, Idaho.
