Lee Ann Turner served as Chair of the Art Department 2013-2016.. She teaches ancient and medieval art history and initiated the BA and minor in History of Art and Visual Culture at Boise State. She won the Award for Distinguished Teaching from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2011.

Turner is a classical archaeologist by training and a fellow of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. While she has participated in field schools and excavations in Greece, Cyprus, Rome and the US, her main experience is on the island of Crete.  There she has participated in the Kavousi Project and the Galatas Survey Project and currently excavates with an international team at Gournia (view website).

Turner’s most recent publications include the co-authored volume Kavousi IIA: The LM IIIC Settlement at Vronda, The Houses on the Summit (2009) and Caves to Cathedral: Visual Arts in Ancient and Medieval Texts (2012).
