NCATS Eli Lilly Externship Opportunity in Clinical and Translational Sciences

The Institute of Translational Health Sciences is pleased to offer this externship opportunity for scholars, trainees, and investigators through our National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences’ (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Award. The primary objective of this NCATS externship program is to enhance translational scientists, trainees, or scholars’ core competencies in clinical trial design, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, and other areas critical to the drug development process.

Eligible parties have the opportunity to apply for an externship in clinical and translational sciences at Eli Lilly and Company. The externship is a flexible arrangement made between Eli Lilly and the participant, and may be up to six months or may be divided into two periods. Travel, lodging, and stipend/salary support is provided.

Each participant will be matched with a mentor and integrated into the scientific project teams at Eli Lilly. Participants will work on intensive, hands-on projects that will expose them to the translational sciences relevant to identifying and developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a clinical doctoral degree (MD or PhD) or its equivalent in biological or biomedical sciences, bioengineering, or a related field; have a record of accomplishments in clinical and translational science research and a keen interest in learning more about drug development and commercialization processes.
