CEEHS Publishes Research on the Role of Maintenance Personnel in Wildfire Smoke Resilience

Dr. Luke Montrose, Assistant Professor in Environmental Health and Radiological Sciences at Colorado State University, and Meredith Spivak, Research Coordinator with the Center for Excellence in Environmental Health and Safety at Boise State University, have published research on wildfire smoke resilience at long term care facilities in the Western US. A team of researchers held a virtual workshop, and also conducted surveys and follow-up interviews, with long term care facility maintenance personnel to address how maintenance personnel play a key role in a facility’s ability to prepare for and respond to wildfire smoke events, the health impacts of wildfire smoke, and strategies to assess and maintain indoor air quality.
