Boise State University hosted the Idaho Supreme Court’s annual Ethics and Written Exam Preparation Workshop on Friday, April 15, 2022. Prospective court interpreters came from several areas of Idaho, including Moscow and Twin Falls that do no currently have any certified court interpreters.

Department of World Languages professors Fatima Cornwall and Christopher Dimmick, both state certified court interpreters at the master level, served as the instructors.

Supreme Court Justice Hon. Gregory Moeller delivered the opening remarks where he stressed the importance of the court interpreters’ role in guaranteeing access to justice and equal protection under the law for limited English proficiency individuals. Having lived in Japan for eighteen months, and later having worked closely with interpreters and translators as a district judge, he understands the pressures interpreters face when working in court.
