Jeff Kummer – 1. Jeff Kummer – Tax Update December 18, 2023

Managing Director, Tax Policy, Washington National Tax, Deloitte Tax LLP

Jeff has over 23 years of experience in the tax policy arena and is currently responsible for communicating emerging tax developments in the U.S. Congress, the Internal Revenue Service and Treasury Department, and the federal courts to the Firm and its clients. Jeff oversees the content development of Tax News & Views as well as thought leadership publications on issues such as the U.S. deficit and fundamental tax reform.

His Capitol Hill experience includes working on tax and budget issues for former U.S. Senator and Senate Finance Committee member Steve Symms, R-Idaho.

Jeff holds a BS in Political Science from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.

Senior Manager, Audit  Deloitte & Touche LLP

Brent has more than 15 years of experience auditing public and private companies in a variety of industries.  In addition to leading audit engagements as a senior manager in Deloitte’s Retail & Distribution practice, he spends time in a national role with Deloitte’s Audit Analytics Group focused on automation.  He leads development of improved audit tools and techniques that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of audit procedures by taking advantage of the increasing availability of data.

Brent holds a BS Accounting and MAcc from Brigham Young University.

Kelsey Barclay – 3. Gem State 2023 Accounting Standards Update

Senior Manager, Audit Deloitte & Touche LLP

Kelsey Barclay is in her eleventh year with Deloitte & Touche LLP serving a variety of large and small public and private companies focusing on consumer products and technology industries.

In addition to serving audit clients, Kelsey serves in an advisory capacity, focusing on technical accounting with extensive experience assessing new or complex accounting issues arising from both business combinations and the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.

Kelsey recently served in a National Office Accounting Consultation role, leading consultations on complex and leading-edge matters for clients on areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations and cash flows, contingencies and foreign currencies.

Kelsey was a lead co-author of Deloitte’s inaugural edition of A Roadmap to Accounting for Contingencies, Loss Recoveries and Guarantees.

Jeff Olson – 3. Gem State 2023 Accounting Standards Update

Senior Manager, Deloitte & Touche LLP

Jeff has over ten years of experience serving attest and non-attest clients, specializing in technical accounting matters and SEC reporting requirements related to ongoing reporting obligations and for internal controls. Jeff participates in and coordinates financial audit projects, internal control audit projects and performs quality control reviews for audits in accordance with US GAAP and the standards of the PCAOB and the SEC in diverse clients within the United States and Germany.

Jeff serves as the lead Senior Manager on large public and multi-national companies in several industries focusing on retail, manufacturing, and healthcare. Jeff contributes to Deloitte’s Global Firm by assisting the Review Support group in maintaining quality throughout the Deloitte Global network.

In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time outdoors by either hitting the slopes in the Winter or golfing in the Summer, he also enjoys traveling to unique areas of the world with his wife.

Jeff Lingwall – 4. Jeff Lingwall – Practical Business Ethics

Associate Professor, Boise State University

Jeff earned his JD from the Yale Law School and his Ph.D. in Economics and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He also did graduate work in statistics at Brigham Young University. He has published on a wide variety of topics, such as the procedural aspects of mass litigation, consumer financial protection, blockchain-based contracting, education law, and the history of corporate social responsibility. Before joining Boise State, Jeff taught commercial law and data science at Truman State University, practiced class action defense law, and clerked for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. His spare time is usually occupied with his seven amazing children.
