On June 25, 2019, Anne Walker and Geoff Black led the second meeting of of the new Boise State 411 Speaker Series at the invitation of Vice President of University Advancement Rick Frisch. The Boise State 411 Speaker Series is tapping into the expertise of faculty across campus to speak on issues currently in the news.  Their talk, “Deja Vu All Over Again – Neo-mercantilism and the New Tariff Regime,” focused on the history of economists’ views on trade protection and the impacts of the new tariffs and other trade protections that have taken effect over the past two years. The talk was well attended and received and took place at the Boise State Friends and Alumni Center.
