[Title: Boise State University, Executive MBA Program, International Residency]

[Nancy Napier, Ph.D. Executive MBA Faculty] Many Executive MBA programs have international residencies and we do as well. We go to Hanoi Vietnam for ours. The program is not a classroom typical education tour, to a country like Vietnam. It’s more like a trade mission. So our Executive MBA participants actually do business projects there. So when our participants go to Vietnam, this is a working week. We can help plug them into key people that they should talk to. They learned about doing business about the economy about the importance of history, about the difficulty, the challenges of working in a transition economy. So it’s got lots of different features that they experience they don’t just hear about and they don’t see as outsiders they become insiders very fast.

[Eric Hicks, Ph.D. Executive MBA Faculty] One of the differentiators in this program is its international focus. More and more businesses being conducted by either by multinational companies outside the USA or even smaller companies that are partnering with other countries and cultures, so it’s really important that we help prepare people understand how to operate in those cultures and do business across country lines.

[Shannon Stoeger, EMBA ’16] I absolutely loved the international trip it was fantastic. It far exceeded my expectations when I signed up for the MBA program, I was not signing out because of the International trip, but I would say it was one of the highlights of the program.

[Ben Chaney, EMBA ’13] The residency program for me really stuck out because it was something I had never had an opportunity to do. I want to try it and now having done it gone through it. It was beyond what I thought it would be. It really opened my eyes to a fresh way of approaching different topics and subjects in business principles.

[Carolyn Hennen, EMBA ’16] The international residency was fascinating. I’ve never been to Asia before it was my first trip so it was a very eye-opening experience. I was really excited because in my business we import and export, we do international global business. So it was just another piece of the puzzle that fit perfectly for me.
