Women In Construction, Engineering, and Design (WICED)

A Powerful Mission

The student organization aims to focus on mentoring of future women leaders in the construction industry. WICED plans on doing this through building strong relationships with the local industry, workshops, industry lead talks and creating mentoring opportunities for our members.

The student officers have set this organization up to allow for a monthly social event or speaker. Social events would be industry-focused and would often be extended to local high school students considering a career in the construction industry. Ideas include job site tours, job site visits, or organizing an industry night activity (bowling with industry, roller skating, kickball, bonfire, etc.).

The women need funds to be able to attend conferences, travel, offer a small scholarship each year, and be able to offer the officers additional training (OSHA 30). We are focused on attending career and STEM fairs at local high schools to encourage younger women into the profession. The women of WICED would like to formally team up with the Construction Management Association and Sigma Lambda Chi once a year to better the community; ideas include shed build for Habitat for Humanity, Rake up Boise, or highway clean up.

Your support is needed as we hope to challenge the Women in Construction, Engineering, and Design student organization to realize new goals and embrace greater missions for the group as the organization grows.
