Director

Don Plumlee,

Dr. Donald Plumlee serves as the Chair of the Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering Department at Boise State University. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and worked for many years as an engineer for NASA and Lockheed Martin. He returned to school to earn an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Material Science minor from Boise State University and then a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho. He has been teaching in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University since 2007. In addition to teaching, he manages the Ceramic MEMS research laboratory, and is the faculty adviser for several student groups. Dr. Plumlee maintains active memberships in several engineering societies including the International Micro-electronics and Packaging Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Society of Engineering Education. He serves as a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technologies, Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, and Sensors and Actuators (Physical), and as associate editor for the International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology.
