Transfer Credits

Engineering Plus is seeking initial accreditation from the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) and as such we are applying the criteria required by that accreditation in addition to university requirements for academic work.  To the extent that we are able, our faculty will apply appropriate transfer courses to meet degree requirements.  In some cases, Engineering Plus will rely upon our colleagues in other departments to verify that courses taken to fulfill Engineering and Pathway are equivalent to Boise State courses.

For Classes Taken Prior to Attending Boise State

If you are transferring courses to Boise State from another college or university, your transcripts will be initially reviewed by the Office of the Registrar.  It is possible that some of the courses that are not considered as direct equivalents on the first review can be re-evaluated by our department for consideration. If you believe a course that you have taken should count toward one of our degree requirements, please review these courses with your advisor. Be prepared to provide course descriptions and syllabi from your prior course.

For Students Currently Enrolled at Boise State

If you are planning to take a course outside of Boise State University as part of your Engineering plus curriculum, please be aware that not all external courses meet the learning objectives established by Engineering Plus.  You must get prior written approval from your Engineering Plus advisor before enrolling in classes outside of Boise State.  This applies to online courses offered by other colleges and universities as well as traditional face to face course offerings.

Second Degree Seeking Students

If you’ve earned an academic degree and you are obtaining a second undergraduate degree from us, it’s likely that you’ve met most if not all of our University Foundations requirements. In addition, we can apply to waive some of our courses when you have taken the appropriate equivalent courses for your previous degree.

CLEP and Other Prior Learning

If you have experiential learning in a particular area, you can request credit for courses in that area. We don’t offer this for mechanical engineering; however, many of our students have successfully obtained credits for language and other courses. You may also be able to obtain College Level Examination (CLEP) credits for prior learning. Before pursuing these credits, talk with your advisor to make sure the courses for which you are obtaining credit will help you in your degree progress.
