Ongoing Professional Development

The Concurrent Enrollment Program provides ongoing professional development opportunities to Concurrent Enrollment instructors in alignment with NACEP accreditation standards.

Professional Development

The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) expects Faculty Liaisons to conduct annual professional development workshops on course integrity, grading standards, course pedagogy, theory, philosophy, or other appropriate topics.

Scheduling and Planning

The CEP provides time and space to conduct discipline-specific professional development during the annual Fall Instructor Training in early August.

Faculty Liaisons can also choose to hold their professional development events on an alternate date. The CEP provides event planning support to schedule and organize professional development meetings.

The CEP covers the cost for instructor travel, parking and materials.

Resources

The Boise State Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has numerous University-wide faculty development opportunities available to instructors. View the Boise State CTL website here.

Requirements of Faculty Liaisons

Whatever form the annual professional development takes, Faculty Liaisons are responsible for submitting a detailed agenda to the CEP. They must also submit copies of notes and all materials they share with concurrent enrollment instructors during the training.

Faculty Liaisons can use the Professional Development Meeting Form to detail the meeting notes or submit their own annotated agenda. Access the Professional Development Meeting Form (pdf) here.

In addition to annual, organized professional development events, Faculty Liaisons are encouraged to communicate department-specific information to instructors on a regular basis. They should include instructors and the CEP director in all department correspondence, listservs, academic notices, and general information.

Professional Development Accreditation Standards

The processes and practices of providing ongoing professional development for concurrent enrollment instructors at Boise State are aligned with the following NACEP Accreditation Standards:

  • Faculty 3 (F3): Concurrent enrollment instructors participate in college/university provided annual discipline-specific professional development and ongoing collegial interaction to further enhance instructors’ pedagogy and breadth of knowledge in the discipline.
  • Faculty 4 (F4): The CEP ensures instructors are informed of and adhere to program policies and procedures.
  • Assessment 1 (A1): The college/university ensures concurrent enrollment students’ proficiency of learning outcomes is measured using comparable grading standards and assessment methods to on campus sections.
