Step 2: Find Funding

Once you have established your idea, it’s time to investigate your funding options. Here, you’ll discover the resources to help you get started.

  • Sign up for Funding BlastsSubscribe to the Funding Blast to receive regular updates on funding opportunities, events and resources.
  • Consult with Research Development – Meet with Research Development Strategists to discuss potential funding opportunities and strategies for positioning your project for funding, including meeting with program officers and white paper development.
  • Utilize the SPIN database – Access over 40,000 funding opportunities from more than 10,000 sponsors, including government agencies, foundations, and corporations. See below for more information on accessing the database.
  • Sign up for funding newsletters – Subscribe to email notifications from funding agencies, such as NSF, NIH and many others to receive updates from funding agencies and programs related to your interests.
  • Stay informed about Limited Submission Opportunities – When you subscribed to the Funding Blast, you are also signed up to receive notifications on Limited Submissions. Limited submissions are conditions placed by funding agencies that limit the number of applications that can be submitted by an institution.

-Due to this constraint, limited submissions require an internal selection process and institutional approval prior to investigators submitting an application to the external sponsor. Instructions on submitting to a limited submission opportunity are provided in the announcement we send out.

-While Research Development uses several means to identify programs that limit submissions, not all opportunities are tracked. If you believe a funding opportunity might be limited but don’t see it among our announcements, please contact  limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu as soon as possible.
