Boise State University’s Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity is a leader of innovative cybersecurity research and advancement in Idaho and the region. The Institute currently welcomes and facilitates strategic partnerships with industry, higher education, business and government to improve cybersecurity for Idaho and the nation. The Institute also works to commercialize ground-breaking research and tools, and educate graduates to become the change-makers and forward-thinkers of the 21st century.

Meet the Cyberdome

An Institute backed initiative, the Cyberdome is a collaborative hub for competency-based development, with the mission of reducing risk for rural communities while producing a “Ready to Work” cybersecurity workforce.

The Cyberdome provides students with extensive hands-on work experience by providing cybersecurity services to rural partners across Idaho.

National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

National center of academic excellent in cybersecurity

As of February 2022, Boise State is a designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. This five-year designation is awarded by the National Security Agency, based upon the university’s proven efforts to reduce threats to national infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense as well as provide the nation with a pipeline of qualified cybersecurity professionals.

  • Edward Vasko

    Edward Vasko, CISSP

    Director, Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity

    Edward Vasko comes to Boise State with 30 years of experience as both a cybersecurity business executive and entrepreneur. Prior to joining Boise State, Edward established and was a Senior Vice President at Avertium, a leading national managed security and consulting provider. Before Avertium, he was the co-Founder and CEO of Terra Verde, based in Phoenix, Arizona. Edward grew Terra Verde into Arizona’s largest provider of cybersecurity advisory and managed security services, with over 2,000 active clients around the world. A successive entrepreneur, he has started and run five businesses, all in the cybersecurity industry.
