Dairy NutriSols
The dairy industry is vibrant and full of potential to feed a growing and hungry world. Dairy NutriSols represents a consortium of scientists from multiple disciplines who have come together to provide solutions for the industry’s biggest challenges: processing efficiencies, new product innovation and sustainability. By tackling these challenges from a variety of disciplines (chemistry, artificial intelligence, microbiology and food engineering), we believe that we can arrive at industry-adoptable solutions faster than if these solutions were developed proprietarily at individual companies.
Why Dairy
This team focuses on dairy solutions because dairy foods are packed with nutrients. Globally, as we look for sustainable solutions to combat food/nutrition insecurity, we need products that deliver shelf-stable, nutrient-rich calories. Dairy delivers. The beauty is that these solutions are transferable across industries, so the work of this team has broad implications across food manufacturing.
Funding
Dairy NutriSols is currently funded by an NSF Convergence Accelerator grant. And prioritizes projects that have been vetted by the BUILD Dairy research & workforce development program. This grant is designed to get applicable science from the world of academia into our communities.
