Geoscience’s Madeline Gendreau awarded Top 10 Scholar

Congrats to Boise State’s Top 10 Scholars Recipient Madeline Gendreau!

Top 10 Scholars Award: Presented by the Boise State Alumni Association and Boise State Honors College, the Top Ten Scholar Award is one of the highest academic honors granted to a Boise State University undergraduate student. Each spring the recipients are recognized, along with their honored faculty, at the annual Top Ten Scholars Award Ceremony.

 

About Madeline:

Madeline is known for her passion towards education and commitment to her community. During her second year, Madeline joined the cryoGARS Glaciology Lab on campus where she studied snow depth over glaciers and glacier motion using satellite images. For her work, she has co-authored one publication and is currently working on a second. Madeline was selected to present a poster on her research at the 2022 American Geophysical Union Fall Conference in Chicago and as a 2023 BSU Undergraduate Research Showcase Lightning Speaker.

Madeline is deeply involved in the BSU and Boise community. She served as the President then Vice President of the BSU Young Democrats Club where she spread awareness about bills directly impacting students and helped students register to vote. Madeline also served as the GeoScience Club President where she collaborated with other club leadership members and students to plan two camping trips which were provided free to students. She served as a student representative on the BSU Academic Integrity Board and worked as a Teaching Assistant. For the City of Boise, Madeline served as a steering committee member for the inaugural Youth Climate Summit in 2022 where she coordinated recruitment from local highschools for students to attend the event.

Madeline earned the Department of Defense SMART Scholarship during her second year of school and will begin working for the Department of Defense after graduation.
