Coming into college, Amy found her community with the Blue Thunder Marching Band. As a first-year student, she made her start in the program as a trombone performer. She was then selected as a drum major her sophomore year, a leadership position responsible for conducting and leading the marching band. Through Blue Thunder, she traveled and performed in amazing stadiums, experienced exhilarating basketball tournaments, and left her marks of dedication and excellence within the program. Her passion for marching band led her to join an independent competitive marching arts corps, Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, where she served as a drum major for two seasons and two national tours. Her musical pursuits shaped her college experience and gave her the confidence not only to perform in front of tens of thousands of people, but to dream big.
Amy is also an accomplished scholar of environmental studies. Whether it be becoming a research assistant for an Indigenous-led buffalo restoration project, or serving as a field technician in collecting sagebrush data in the Boise Foothills, she was always on the hunt for new academic experiences. In her senior year, Amy was elected as the Financial Officer of the Environmental Club, where she helped foster a community around a shared passion for the environment. This led her to being selected as the Environmental Studies representative on the Geosciences Student Advisory Board, where she worked on a team to identify issues of diversity, equity and inclusion within the program and devise solutions that enable students to connect with their peers and with faculty. Amy was selected as a 2024 Andrus Scholar, where she will spend her summer working with the Boise Bureau of Land Management.
Amy is from Meridian, Idaho.
