On Friday, September 6, the GEOS 200 (Evolution of Western North America) class went out to Sinker Butte at Snake River. On week 3 of the Fall semester, they have scaffolded their way to describing and measuring a geologic column. It is composed of the effusive and explosive eruptive products of Pleistocene basaltic volcano, using stations set up along the access road to Swan Falls Dam. It was great group of engaged students including 12 BS Geosciences majors, 2 Geology minors (Anthropology and GIMM majors), and 1 Environmental Science major. Graduate teaching assistant, Erin Toulou (pictured on far left), has stepped in smoothly into the role of course mentor and lab co-instructor!
