    President

I am a PhD student in the Department of Geosciences, studying volcanic hazards at Mount Hood, Oregon. My research focuses on Pyroclastic Density Current and Lahar hazard, constraining flow inundation and timescales using models and fieldwork to inform hazard mitigation and emergency management in the event of a volcanic eruption. I am also conducting the same research on Villarrica volcano in Chile, to simulate lahar risk for surrounding communities. I love hiking, skiing, surfing and traveling and am always available in my cubicle on the 5th floor to lend a hand! I am originally from England where I completed my Undergraduate and Master’s degrees, and look forward to exploring more of Idaho (and the US) during my time at Boise State!

I started my Ph.D. in Geophysics here at BSU in 2024 under Dr. HP Marshall. My research centers on utilizing radar remote sensing and snow and ice modeling to better understand winter habitats and migration patterns of both arctic and alpine species (i.e. Caribou and Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frogs). Prior to coming to Boise, I attended UCLA and earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. In my free time, I love to backpack, garden, and read.

    Financial Officer

I am a second year Geosciences PhD student. I am studying the Southern East Pacific Rise at 17º-19ºS using geochemical methods to quantify magmatic accretion. I did my undergrad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and studied the Kane-Atlantis Boundary of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. You can find me wandering from lab to lab on the fifth floor or at my desk 5D. Outside of research: I enjoy playing D&D, painting minifigures, digital art, photography, reading, writing fiction short stories, playing video games, and exploring.

    Faculty Liaison

Hello everyone! I am a geosciences masters student. My research focuses on solute weathering in the supraglacial ice of alpine glaciers in Taylor Valley, Antarctica. I completed my undergraduate degree at Boise State majoring in Geosciences with a Geology emphasis. Outside of my research I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, baking, and painting! I am excited to be the faculty liaison this year!

    Outreach Coordinator

I am a 3nd year PhD student in geophysics, using infrasound to track and monitor wildfires. I am also interested in geoscience instrumentation, so you can find me soldering in the lab or in my cubicle on the 3rd floor. I majored in physics and geophysics during my undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill, and I worked as a Polar Field Engineer at EarthScope for 3 years before starting my PhD. Outside of research, I love running, trail work, and sewing!

    Involvement Chair

I am a first year Master’s student in geophysics, studying how glacier velocity and melt will respond to a changing climate on seasonal timescales. My passion for glaciology and geophysics started during my undergraduate research at UW-Madison, where I worked on a thesis regarding glacial seismology and basal slip in Alaska. During my undergraduate career, I also worked at the Wisconsin Geological and Natural Survey, where I had the opportunity to implement DEI initiatives through outreach and social media. So, I am excited to continue that at Boise State! In my free time, I like to cycle, paddle, travel, and yap in my cubicle on the 3rd floor ERB.
