NECC Valorant Season Update

By Maggie Borland

With the semester coming to a close, our spring NECC league has just concluded their regular season. What does this mean? It means the top eight teams in each division will advance on to the playoffs. Now, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that both Boise State Valorant teams were in the top division nicknamed, “Champions”. The bad news is that only one team has made it to the playoffs.

Even though our second team won’t be competing in the playoffs, they’ve put in a lot of hard work throughout the season and improvements can be seen within their gameplay. We can look forward to even better things from them in the coming semesters. However, Boise State still has one team in the running for the championship. The record and map differential from the regular season are as follows:

  1. UC Davis: 9-0 record, 18-2 map differential
  2. Florida Atlantic University: 7-2 record, 15-4 map differential
  3. Boise State: 7-2 record, 15-5 map differential
  4. Johnson & Wales: 5-4 record, 12-8 map differential
  5. Florida Gulf Coast University: 5-4 record, 10-9 map differential
  6. Sacramento State 1: 5-4 record, 10-10 map differential
  7. CSU Dominguez Hills Burgundy: 3-6 record, 8-12 map differential
  8. UBC- Okanagan: 2-6 record, 4-15 map differential

Some (possible) interesting games of the future could include a rematch against Florida Atlantic University, which Boise lost 0-2 against in the beginning of the season. This match would take place during the quarter finals on April 22nd if both teams made it through the first round. The second team Boise lost to was UC Davis just last week. However, they put up a close fight and lost 1-2 to them. If this matchup happens it will be during the grand finals held on April 27th.

Boise State’s first game in the playoffs bracket will be against Sacramento State, and it will be aired on April 21st on the University’s Twitch channel. Be sure to tune in to support your Valorant team as they work to take back a championship that slipped through their fingers in the fall.

P.S. Special shout out to our player “Bandit” who was awarded the NECC Player of the Week during week 7 of the regular season!
