About the Food and Dairy Innovation Center

Video Transcript: Welcome to the Food and Dairy Innovation Center at Boise State University

The Food and Dairy Innovation Center (FDIC) was inspired by a growing number of partnerships across Idaho that have led to the formulation of our vision to apply a transdisciplinary science, engineering, and technology systems approach to drive innovation for the food and dairy sectors.

IGEM HERC funds will be used to create a laboratory environment that is complementary to Idaho institutional facilities leading to sustainable operations funded through collaborative industry focused projects aimed at workforce training and innovative product solutions.

The FDIC will provide food safety and security training, create innovative technologies, educate the next generation of workers, and strive to reduce the usage of critical natural resources.

The center will be a strong bridge between the public and private sectors to help increase the economic development for Idaho as a whole.

With the support from our industry partners we will establish a training site to conduct critical research, develop and evaluate state of the art technology, and provide essential workforce development through fundamental, translational, and applied solutions to today’s real-world food and industry concerns.

At the Food and Dairy Innovation Center; we envision a center that uses a transdisciplinary science, engineering, and a technology systems approach to drive innovation for the food industry!
