Times are hard for many Treasure Valley residents, including some Boise State students and staff. In an effort to help pet owners with the costs of vaccinating their dogs and cats, the Boise State Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club has teamed with the Idaho Humane Society (IHS) Veterinary Medical Center to offer low-cost vaccinations and microchips to Boise State students, faculty and staff with Boise State ID. So before you settle in to watch another great Boise State football matchup, bring your pet in for their needed defense against disease or loss.
The low-cost vaccination clinic will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 3. A brief exam and vaccines will be administered by a licensed veterinarian for only $15 per vaccine or $20 per microchip. Dogs and cats are welcome at the clinic, located at 4775 W. The Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club is geared toward guiding, preparing and helping students who aspire to attend veterinary school. The club also participates in community projects such as See Spot Walk (a benefit for the IHS) and Ride for Joy (an equine therapy program in Eagle). These projects raise community awareness and provide opportunities for the experience hours needed by pre-vet students. A portion of the proceeds will go to the IHS to supplement their low-cost services for the Treasure Valley. Another portion will go to the Pre-Vet Club to help pay for field trips, educational speakers, community projects and more.
