Faculty Delivers Workshop on Estimated Patient Radiation Exposure

Leslie Kendrick

Leslie Kendrick, director of the Diagnostic Radiography Program in the Department of Radiologic Sciences, delivered a 1.5-hour workshop at the annual international meeting of the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology (ACERT) on Feb. 10 in Las Vegas, Nev. Her presentation, titled “Dose Considerations With Use of Manufacturer Exposure Ranges,” discussed her current research that focuses on estimated patient skin exposure levels based on actual radiographer practice. The research analyzes the patient dose attached to the acceptable exposure ranges and correlates dose to actual technologist practice of exposure to assess radiation safety.

Kendrick is a past president of ACERT and continues her collaborative research with St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center on the estimated skin exposure levels received by return patients through a grant awarded by the Office of External Funding in the College of Health Sciences.
