In conjunction with BroncoFit, students in the Department of Kinesiology invite faculty and staff to participate in a challenge to improve their health and fitness.
The 10-Week Challenge is a friendly competition among Boise State employees to see who can improve their health and fitness the most across the semester. Faculty and staff will commit to participate for 10 weeks and students participating in service-learning through the KINES 432 Conditioning Principles course will provide personal training. The purpose of this semester-long project is to help faculty and staff improve their health and wellness by providing a knowledgeable trainer and external accountability.
Clients and personal trainers will agree to meet a minimum of two times per week for ten weeks. Recreation Center members may choose to train there while those without memberships will be provided times (see below) to train in the Kinesiology Annex weight room. Locker rooms are available.
Student personal trainers will develop and guide participants through an exercise routine designed to help them meet their personal health and fitness goals. The number of student trainers may be limited, so employees will be accepted into the challenge on a first come, first served basis.
Participants will be required to complete a health history questionnaire before participating. Data will be collected at the beginning and end of the challenge; measures will include: height, weight, body mass index (BMI), percent body fat (as determined by air displacement in the BodPod), and resting heart rate and blood pressure, as well as appropriate performance measures (e.g. speed, power, strength). Participants making the most significant improvement across all measures will be awarded prizes as will their trainers.
Please follow this link to a Google Form to enter. The 10-week challenge will begin on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
