Key Position Dates

Required Staff Trainings

Fall Training & Move-In: August 4-18, 2024

Winter Training: January 9-10, 2025

Note: PMs will have training beginning in May

Required Qualifications & Time Commitments:

• Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Boise State University with a minimum of 12 credits (undergraduate) or 6 credits (graduate) taken on a semester basis throughout employment
• Each student staff position is expected to complete 19 hours of work/week
• Must have a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5. Must have passed at least 12 units/credits the most recent semester prior to employment
• Must be in good conduct and financial standing with Housing & Residence Life and Boise State University
• Must be able to serve in the role for one academic year including break periods (PM: Mid-May 2024 through Mid-May 2025, and RA/CA/RHA: August 4, 2024 through Mid-May 2025)
• Must be able to attend all training sessions throughout the academic year including fall (August 4-18, 2024) and spring training sessions (January 9-10, 2025)
• All positions must be available on Wednesdays from 9:00 PM – 10:30 PM for weekly staff meetings
• CAs must also be available on Tuesdays from 4:30pm – 6:30pm for Living Learning Program Commitments
• PMs must also be available on Thursdays from 1:30 – 3:00 PM for Conflict Support Services workgroup meetings
• Student Staff (RA/CA/RHA) must be present in their communities for an average of 2 hours per workday (weekdays between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Resident Assistant

Resident Assistants get to build community in their assigned residential community, and have the opportunity to make each resident feel at home and like they belong at Boise State. Resident Assistants help work to connect and build relationships with residents, support residents in being successful at Boise State, assist in maintaining the safety and well-being of our communities, plan programs and educational events for residents, and get to work and collaborate with a team of peers! Community Assistant

Community Assistants help residents by providing social and educational programming opportunities that connect learning inside and outside the classroom. Housing and Residence Life is looking for motivated individuals to be part of our dynamic staff as we strive to provide an academically engaging experience that promotes inclusiveness, learning, academic excellence, and meaningful relationships.

Position Description

Peer Meditator

Peer Meditators provide support to Boise State University students working through interpersonal, group, and intercultural conflict. Conflict arises in many settings and can negatively impact relationships, friendships, and opportunities. Peer Meditators also serve as liaisons between residents and Conflict Support Services.

Position Description

It is a requirement for Peer Meditators to have completed a 40-hour basic mediation class (CONFLICT 402) prior to serving in this role. Not having taken this class does not exclude you from applying; however, if selected as a PM you would need to complete this requirement prior to starting. 

RHA Student Staff

The Residential Housing Association (RHA) Executive Board is made up of six unique positions that serve the residential communities. The executive team plans large-scale events, oversees the Hall Councils in the communities, supports other events, advocates for residential needs, and represents the university at a regional and national level. We are looking for students who want to engage residents in their on-campus experience, collaborate with peers, and advocate for students.
