Purpose

Required to conduct outreach to existing clients to determine effectiveness of services offered and to determine additional needs of the clients. Maintain good relations with local stakeholders and government agencies to foster a cooperative environment.

Level Scope

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

●  Experience working with small businesses

●  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

●  Knowledge of teaching techniques, especially for adult learners

●  Proficiency in marketing and customer service

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the Business Consultant, Associate must:

  •  Develop and coordinate marketing and teaching training programs for small business clients
  • Evaluate client needs and assign to the appropriate consultant
  • Support electronic functions including general IT support, Facebook, Twitter, video conferencing, and other media
  • Maintain documentation required for grant execution reporting
  • Manage and assist with the development of symposium and workshop content and logistics
  • Market training programs
  • Consult with clients on social media strategy
  • Prepare invoices, track payments and make deposits
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external resources to provide business development assistance for the benefit of the clients

35% of Time the Business Consultant, Associate

5% of Time the Business Consultant,  Associate

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.

Ability to travel statewide
