About the Project

As part of FEMA’s Cooperating Technical Partners Program, Boise State’s Hazard and Climate Resilience Institute is creating the Idaho Resilience Tool. The Idaho Resilience Tool (IRT) is a web-based GIS application designed to communicate environmental and health burdens across the state of Idaho. The IRT will provide Idaho communities with clear data outputs for grant applications, hazard mitigation plans, and program development.

Background

The Idaho Resilience Tool is being co-created with partners at the state, regional, and local scale. The HCRI is actively engaging government agencies, non-profit organizations, counties and municipalities, and other community-based organizations. Decision-makers from these organizations are invited to participate in all phases of the IRT development.

Project Goals

  • Provide user-friendly access to hazard and risk data.
  • Integrate community feedback to ensure the tool meets local needs.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making for hazard preparedness.

Why It Matters

  • Highlight Idaho’s diverse communities and unique risks.
  • Emphasize the importance of resilience planning for local governments and organizations.
