Undergraduate Music Degrees
The Department of Music offers undergraduate curricula leading to the degrees of:
- Bachelor of Music (BM)
- Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Each of the undergraduate degrees offered prepares a student to pursue a career in music or to enter graduate school.
BM: Music Education
Prepares for a career in public, private, or charter school music teaching. Options are available for degree-seeking students or students already in possession of a music degree but who desire teaching certification.

BM: Music Performance
Provides a strong background in repertoire and performance, and prepares for graduate work in the creative and performing arts and a professional career at the university level.
BM: Music Composition
Students will discover and explore their unique creative voice and develop their musical and compositional skills through weekly instruction, group seminars and discussion, live performances of their original works, and appropriate course work in music theory, history, orchestration, and electronic music.

BA: Music
Offers a flexible, career-focused education that integrates experiential learning, industry partnerships and interdisciplinary study. This program prepares musicians for careers beyond performance and education. With options for applied studio lessons or alternative pathways, this degree fosters creativity, collaboration and professional growth in a dynamic musical community. Admission does not require students to play an instrument, sing or be fluent in reading music.

Music Minor

Learn the foundational skills of creating, manipulating, processing, and recording music in the modern music industry.
