The essay, “How We Think of Our Lives: Boredom in Contemporary Literature,” explores the themes of boredom and attention in contemporary novels by David Foster Wallace, Ottessa Moshfegh, Tao Lin and Ben Lerner. It argues that boredom in art and literature can lead to positive things.
