Tim Thornes presents at indigenous language conference

Tim Thornes, an associate professor of linguistics in the English department, presented a paper titled “Documentation across generations: 100 years of field work in Burns, Oregon” at the International Year of Indigenous Language: Perspectives conference at Purdue University-Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Indigenous language activists and scholars working to record and promote linguistic diversity from every continent gathered to provide workshops, express findings and share perspectives in celebration of the United Nations declaration of 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages.
