Karen Pinto, an associate research professor in the College of Innovation and Design, was invited to Doha, Qatar, to participate in the biennial Hamid bin Khalifa symposium on Islamic art,
“The Seas Imagined and Depicted in Middle Eastern Art, Maps, and Geography.”
She also spoke on medieval Islamic maps at Mohatta Palace in Karachi, Pakistan.
A local English newspaper wrote a story about Pinto: “American scholar sheds light on medieval Islamic maps.”
