Duo Security for faculty and staff off-campus authentication coming Sept. 15

The Office of Information Technology will implement Duo Security multi-factor authentication for faculty and staff beginning Tuesday morning, Sept. 15.

Duo was introduced in May for accessing the Boise State VPN service, and now is expanding to key university systems such as myBoiseState, G Suite (Google Apps), Blackboard, Campus Solutions and Bronco Hub when connecting from off-campus locations (or without first logging in to Boise State VPN).

Duo requires enrollment to begin using this service. Several email notifications with instructions have been sent to all faculty and staff who have yet to complete the enrollment process.

Multi-factor authentication helps protect you against online attacks designed to gain unauthorized access to you Boise State account. This prevents anyone else from signing in with your Boise State credentials, even if they know your password.

Passwords are no longer enough; they can be stolen, guessed or hacked, and you may not even realize your password has been compromised. With Duo two-step login, a compromised password doesn’t have to mean a compromised account.

We’ve created a brief video demonstrating how quick and easy it is to use Duo Security:
