Power Talks is a virtual discussion series hosted by the CAES Energy Policy Institute based at Boise State University. This fall, the series will focus on electricity market changes, carbon capture policy, hydropower choices for the Northwest, geothermal energy prospects and jobs. It also will include a film discussion about energy in the developing world.

11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16: Hydropower in the Northwest: Decisions on Energy Resilience and Salmon, resented by Fred Huette of NW Energy Coalition; Ted Sorenson of Sorenson Engineering/National Hydropower Association; Chase Christen, Brianna Pitcock and Thomas Lazarte of Boise State University.
11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30: Geothermal Energy: Development Prospects and Jobs, presented by Roy Mink of Mink Geohydro Inc., formerly with the Geothermal Technologies Program for the U.S. Department of Energy; Kathy Araújo of Boise State University/CAES; Jeff Tester of Cornell University; Will Pettitt of Geothermal Resources Council and Travis McLing of Idaho National Lab.
Post-viewing discussion at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6: Virtual Movie Matinee Switch On. This film and discussion will examine energy in the developing world with documentary film-maker of Switch On, Scott Tinker from The University of Texas at Austin, and Kathy Araújo from Boise State University.
