Yong Gao, a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, is the recipient of the “Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science Reviewer of the Year” award. She received the award in April at the 2022 Society of Health and Physical Educators Convention in New Orleans, LA.

Gao was asked to serve as a reviewer for the Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science journal because of her expertise in measurement, statistics and research methods. When determining the worthiness of a publication, she considers previous research, the current research’s importance and applicability, and the study’s quality.

Over the past several years, Gao completed 35 reviews, more than any other reviewer or editor. She received an outstanding score based on editors’ grades for her timeliness and quality of reviews – a major factor when naming Gao as the “Reviewer of the Year.”

“Yong Gao is consistently recognized at the highest levels for her many scholarly contributions, and thereby provides excellent visibility for our Department of Kinesiology, School of Allied Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences and the university,” said Bob Wood, the associate dean of research for the College of Health Sciences. “We are so very fortunate to have her here at Boise State.”
