Employee benefit changes effective July 1

The State of Idaho Office of Group Insurance announced a number of updates to employee benefits that will take effect July 1, 2023. Benefit-eligible employees are encouraged to review this information.

New cards and identification numbers for Blue Cross of Idaho members

Due to a system update, Blue Cross of Idaho will issue new insurance cards and identification numbers for current members. Boise State employees who are enrolled in a Blue Cross of Idaho plan will receive new cards in June. Members can use the new cards beginning July 1, 2023 and should destroy their old cards at that time.

New Employee Assistance Program provider with new counselor list

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a free, confidential service that offers short-term counseling, is changing vendors to BPA Health on July 1. Employees are encouraged to verify if their current counselor is a participant in the new network. The Office of Group Insurance will post additional information on their website by the end of June.

To check for a counselor follow these steps:

  1. Log into the BPA Health website.
  2. Click on the “Employee Assistance Program (EAP)” tile.
  3. Click on the “Search EAP Providers” button on the right-hand side of the page.
  4. On the “Provider Network” search page, enter the name of a provider, or use the filter to generate a list of providers. Any provider appearing is in the BPA network.
