Hungry? See what’s new with dining on campus

Boise State Dining has been hard at work over the summer to improve the dining program and has announced a number of changes.

Focus group research indicated sandwiches and salads for sale in the markets were too expensive. Based on this feedback, all sandwiches and salads are priced under $10 and are made fresh on campus.

Buster’s Kitchen has undergone a summer refresh including the creation of a new station, Bowl Life. Guests will be able to create their own bowls using a variety of grains, toppings and sauces.

Cafe 32, named in honor of the year that Boise State was founded, is now open in Albertsons Library. The cafe serves Peet’s coffee drinks and Yonutz Donuts. Grab-n-go sandwiches and salads will also be available.

Boise State Dining is continuing their to-go box program, though it has been modified from last year. Those with a to-go box are asked to limit themselves to just one meal per visit. In the past, guests would eat in the dining hall first, then take a second meal to go, an option that is no longer viable with escalating food costs. Those who would like to eat a meal in and take one to-go must pay or swipe for two meals at the door.

In another effort to reduce the impact of rising food costs on campus, Boise State Dining will close one dining hall on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. SouthFork Dining will be open seven days a week, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends. In a switch from last year, Buster’s Kitchen will be open 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed Friday-Sunday. In addition to helping minimize costs, this closure will also build on campus sustainability efforts by reducing food waste and utility usage without a significant impact to services.

The most up–to-date hours for all locations can be found at the Boise State Dining website.

Faculty and staff meal plans are available for purchase and benefits-eligible staff can pay for a plan through payroll deduction. Meal plans offer significant savings over paying the listed door rates.
