
Ben Blake, the program coordinator for Boise State’s Veterans Upward Bound program, was elected president of the National Association for Veterans Upward Bound, an organization for Veterans Upward Bound professional staff which helps members with training, policy and advocacy.
Blake, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and two-time alum of Boise State, will serve a two-year term.
Veterans Upward Bound programs are funded as part of the Department of Education’s TRIO initiative and help prepare military veterans for success in post-secondary education. Some of the pre-enrollment services offered include math and English tutoring, admissions assistance, financial aid navigation, and community introductions and referrals. All services are free of charge to program participants. There are 67 Veterans Upward Bound programs across the United States.
