Boise State has successfully completed the transition to Zoom Phone, the Office of Information technology announced. This change is part of a broader effort to modernize communication tools and streamline how the campus community connects across campus and beyond.
Zoom Phone is a cloud-based phone system that integrates seamlessly with the Zoom platform many already use for meetings and collaboration. Now that the transition is complete, faculty and staff can make and receive calls using their Boise State phone number through the Zoom app on their computer, mobile device or desk phone.
Additionally, faculty and staff now have access to:
- SMS Messaging: Send and receive text messages (SMS) directly from the Zoom desktop or mobile app using a Boise State phone number.
- Voicemail Transcription: Get voicemails delivered straight to email with easy-to-read transcriptions.
- Call Delegation: Employees can assign others to make or receive calls on their behalf (ideal for executive assistants or team workflows).
- Call Queue Management: Manage high-volume call queues with ease, perfect for departments with shared phone lines.
- More Self-Service Call Handling: Set custom hours, such as business hours and holiday hours, and customize how inbound calls are routed during these hours. Holiday hours are especially helpful for vacations or out of office times.
As part of this transition, all Cisco phones are no longer in service. Those who still have Cisco phone hardware in their office or department space can submit a Request for Disposal of Excess Inventory Items (eWaste form).

The Office of Information Technology wishes to thank you to everyone who participated in the rollout and supported the transition. They are confident that Zoom Phone will enhance the way Boise State communicates.
