Matt Kohn, a distinguished professor of geosciences, presented the three-session course, “The Age of the Earth” to more than 100 Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members from Feb. 1-15. The course examined estimates of the age of the Earth from early history to present day, including pre-scientific views from ancient cultures, the first scientific estimates based on cooling rates of hot spheres, the great evolution debate and more.
