Design Ethnography Gets a Name Change

Design Ethnography, a program in the College of Innovation and Design, will have a new name, the User Experience (UX) Research program, beginning in fall 2019.

Courses will use the prefix UX (formerly ETHNO). The web address has changed: https://boisestate.edu/user-research.

UX gives practical experience in a suite of qualitative research methods, ethics and hands-on projects geared to solve stakeholder problems. UX can be applied by students interested in solving problems through design of user-oriented services and products. Students now can earn a minor in user experience research by taking all of the certificate classes and six credits from these options:

VIP 200, 400 (UX Research Lab)
ENGL 408 Writing for Non-Profits and Social Media
ENGL 415 Technical Documentation and Usability
ENGL 416 User Centered Design Principles
Other User Experience Research courses with approval of advisor

The program has approximately 50 declared students and 20 completed capstone projects in two years. See the capstone page to browse a description of past projects.
