Gautam Basu Thakur, an associate professor in the Department of English, presented a paper titled “Fanon with Lacan: Desire, Alienation, and the Fact of Blackness” at the Ecrits 2019 Conference at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
The paper focused on Franz Fanon’s treatment of sexual relations in his 1952 book “Black Skin, White Masks” and Fanon’s theories of “dependency complex” and “blackness.”
