The life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated in a series of events on campus beginning Jan. 20. King is most well known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transportation and for racial equality in the United States.

The MLK Day of Greatness will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 20 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom with poster making. Free materials and a limited number of commemorative Boise State MLK Celebration t-shirts will be available.
The march to the steps of the Capitol will begin between 10:30-10:45 a.m. Marchers will progress from the Student Union, north on Capitol Boulevard to the steps of the Idaho State Capitol Building. The legacy of King will be celebrated with a rally featuring student speakers. At the conclusion of the rally at noon, attendees will be invited inside the capitol rotunda to join the community in recognition of Human Rights Day.
There also will be a special MLK Living Legacy Celebration keynote address by Eric Love at 7 p.m. on Jan. 27. Love was Boise State’s first African-American student body president. He now is a national consultant who specializes in diversity and inclusion education and training, multicultural competency training, student leadership and social justice.
