The year 2021 brought with it the continuation of new realities from 2020. Boise State graduating artists adapted and thrived with the times. A hybrid of in-person and remote artistic production enabled the artists some normalcy and creative new ways for the development of their work.
The spring exhibition is open to the campus community, April 5-9 in the Blue Galleries in the Center for the Visual Arts.
The exhibition showcases a variety of artworks featuring diverse styles and materials that engage with an array of conceptual and societal issues. The artists address themes such as perceived notions of paradox and perception, gender roles, pollution, human relations with nature, contemplations of what it means to feel at home, agriculture, identity, and more. The media in which the artists worked is as diverse and includes ceramics, painting, sculpture, drawing, illustration, photography, video, metal, and multimedia installation.
The 19 students exhibiting their work planned the gallery exhibition and online show as part of the Art 490 BFA Exhibition course with Gallery Director and Lecturer Kirsten Furlong. These students are all candidates for the bachelor of fine arts degree in visual art, illustration, and art education.
