Boise State Nursing Students Volunteer at Saint Alphonsus Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Anniversary Harvest Party

School of Nursing Volunteers at NICU Harvest Party

School of Nursing faculty member Karen Godard and ten nursing students from the Child and Family Nursing course volunteered at the 11th Annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Graduate Anniversary Party on Oct. 29 held at the Riverside Hotel and Conference Center. Graduates from the neonatal care unit and their family members attended dressed in Halloween costumes. Student volunteers assisted with the registration for families, and interacted with children who had their pictures taken, enjoyed a healthy snacks, played games, decorated cookies, and received goodie bags. Graduates and their families also participated in a remembrance station for Dr. Matthew Sell, the former medical director of the NICU at Saint Alphonsus who died tragically last August in a swimming accident.

With the help of the student volunteers, the professional nursing and medical staff had more time to visit with the graduates and their families. The nursing students have been asked to serve again next year because of their excellent volunteer efforts.
