Christine Larsen, MSN, RN

Clinical Instructor, School of Nursing

Christine Larsen

Christine Larsen began her career as a computer programmer before returning to school to pursue nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boise State University in 2018 and a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from Western Governors University in 2024. Her clinical background includes hospice, inpatient psychiatric care, telemetry, and outpatient medical oncology.

Christine discovered a passion for teaching while mentoring nursing students and new graduates in clinical practice. To further this calling, she joined the Boise State University School of Nursing in 2022 as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor and became a full-time faculty member in 2023. In her current role, she coordinates the four-course series of lab and simulation classes that prelicensure nursing students complete throughout their program of study.

Drawing on her dual backgrounds in technology and nursing, Christine designed and developed HealthCareSim (HCS), an educational software program that began as an electronic medication administration record system and has since expanded into a comprehensive electronic health record platform. HCS is used in the School of Nursing’s simulation and practice labs to give students hands-on experience with assistive technologies and safe, technology-enhanced clinical practice.

Outside of nursing, Christine enjoys reading, crocheting, working on jigsaw puzzles, and singing. She performs with Starling Singers as well as her barbershop quartet, Couples Therapy. She lives in Meridian, Idaho, with her husband, children, and dog.
