Henny Breen, PhD, RN

Henny Breen moved to Boise, ID in 2016.  She started her nursing career as a diploma graduate, working in psychiatric nursing in Toronto, Canada. Her career in Canada included acute care psychiatric nursing, Public Health nursing, and a private counseling private. She has slowly advanced her education throughout her adult life while raising a family. She earned her BSN through the first RN to BSN program in Toronto, and graduate degrees in counseling psychology (M.Ed. from University of Toronto) and nursing (MSc. and PhD, University of Hawaii). Her career before making teaching her fulltime practice included mental health nursing, quality management, disease management and nursing management in Hawaii. She is a certified nurse educator. She had taught in both pre-licensure and post-licensure programs and made online teaching her full time practice upon moving to Portland, OR in 2011. Her research interests include local and global service learning and online nursing education with several publications and national and international presentations in these areas.
