Jayne Josephsen, EdD, RN, CCCTM, CHPN

Tenured Professor, School of Nursing

Jayne Josephsen joined the faculty at Boise State University in the fall of 2006. Jayne Josephsen earned her EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University in
Boise, ID, and her Master’s degree in Nursing Education from Idaho State University in
Pocatello, ID.

Josephsen’s doctoral research focused on cognitive load theory and simulation in nursing
education. Jayne has a productive record of research and dissemination focusing on nursing
education practices that include simulation, cognitive load theory, and metacognition. She is especially interested in examining nursing education practices and how they can prepare
graduates for the changing world of healthcare.

Josephsen’s career outside of her 15 years in nursing higher education includes working in care coordination, transition, resource, and case management, and hospice and palliative care nursing. She is a nationally Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse and a Certified Care Coordination and Transition Management Nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, Jayne worked in human services, working with those with developmental disabilities, emotional disturbance, or other mental health conditions. She has worked across the gamut of human services, including residential treatment centers, juvenile corrections, community education, case management, and state institutions. She holds a Bachelor’s of Sociology as well as a Bachelor’s of Nursing.

Jayne has three grown daughters, six grandchildren, and two spoiled corgis. She enjoys bike riding on the greenbelt, sitting by the river,  cooking, reading, and anything outdoors.
