Jen Mimish

Jen Mimish, DNP, RRT-NPS, CNM, WHNP, CHSE is the Prelicensure Program Director and Clinical Assistant Professor at Boise State University’s School of Nursing. With over 20 years in healthcare and higher education, she is recognized for her leadership, academic innovation, and dedication to student and faculty success.

Dr. Mimish holds a DNP from Frontier Nursing University, an MSN in Midwifery and Women’s Health from Georgetown University, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Respiratory Care Sciences from Boise State. She is board-certified as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, a Registered Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Pediatric specialization, and a Certified Healthcare Simulation
Educator.

Her expertise includes simulation-based education, curriculum development, accreditation preparation, and faculty mentorship. She has developed and presented immersive teaching methods—such as escape-room simulations—on international platforms. Previously, she has served as an Associate Professor and Simulation Coordinator, where she led strategic growth in simulation learning and guided new faculty development.

Clinically, Dr. Mimish brings experience in neonatal intensive care, women’s health, respiratory therapy, and sepsis quality improvement. She operates a midlife women’s health clinic and serves on the board
of the Idaho Association of Sexual Health Professionals.

An advocate for experiential learning and innovative education, she emphasizes critical thinking and student engagement. Her contributions to research in maternal-infant health and infectious diseases, combined with honors like the IMSH Beverlee Anderson Scholarship and CWI Innovation in Action Awards (2020, 2025), underscore her impact on nursing education and practice.
