Reduce Stress By Practicing Self-Care

Let’s face it: college is stressful.

As an online student, you face a high likelihood that the normal stressors of deadlines, tests, and getting good grades are only some of the worries you are dealing with. Online students are also often parents, full-time employees, caregivers, active-duty military and much more.

Check in with yourself and avoid burnout by making self-care part of your regular schedule.

Control the things that can lead to stress.

Deal with the stress of a busy semester in healthy ways by:

  • Eating a balanced diet
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Exercising regularly
  • Taking quick study breaks to relax
  • Surrounding yourself with support (that’s what we’re here for!)
  • Celebrating milestones and achievements

Taking the time to care for your body and mind will help you stay focused and energized throughout the semester.

Practice self-care that fits your needs.

Not everyone is recharged by hot yoga; some people prefer a night of relaxing and watching a mindless show on their favorite streaming service. Figure out what works for you and set aside time to do that activity. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish: it’s vital to your long-term success as an online student and in the various other roles you fill.
